A second year of Casual Dining Awards success for KuPP

KuPP, Nordic inspired café, bar and casual dining concept are celebrating a second year of success at the Casual Dining Restaurant and Pub awards which took place last night at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square. Nominated alongside some stiff competition, KuPP took home Independent Restaurant of the year.

2017 was an exciting year for KuPP having opened two new venues in Southampton’s Westquay and Oxford’s Westgate. KuPP also has venues in London Paddington and Exeter Queen St Dining. Perhaps the most notable of these recent openings is KuPP Oxford which marks the beginning of a partnership between KuPP and John Lewis.

Although located on the rooftop above the newly opened Oxford store, KuPP signed on to a standalone lease rather than taking a concession. KuPP Oxford therefore caters for John Lewis customers and the general public alike with trading hours that extend beyond those of the store and its own entrance accessible even when the store is closed. KuPP has now also exchanged on a second site with John Lewis.

Making the decision to partner with KuPP is in line with the much publicised aim of John Lewis MD, Paula Nickolds, to place a renewed focus on “experience” and increasing dwell time in their stores. Improving their food and beverage options to include KuPP on their rooftop was pivotal in providing their Oxford customers with the best experience possible.

A relatively young brand, KuPP enjoyed their first industry awards success at the 2017 Casual Dining Restaurant and Pub Awards where they won the Menu Innovation Award for their Nordic inspired menu. KuPP are fast becoming familiar with industry awards ceremonies having received an Eat Out Award for Best All Day Menu late last year as well as a nomination for Food, Beverage or Leisure Operator of the Year at the prestigious Revo Gold Awards.

KuPP’s menu makes use of classic Nordic cooking techniques such as curing, pickling and smoking and spans from breakfast to lunchtime smørrebrød; Fika (a Swedish tradition of enjoying a coffee and a pastry); signature smörgåsbords; snacks to be grazed on and shared over drinks; straight through to dinner and dessert. KuPP’s food offering is paired with a large fully stocked cocktail bar featuring signature Nordic inspired cocktails, a well-considered wine list and an extensive range of premium spirits including the Scandinavian favourite, Aquavit.

Steve Cox, Managing Director of KuPP said “Yet another outstanding evening at the Casual Dining Awards. It was great to be involved and an absolute honour to be shortlisted amongst such esteemed company. To go on and win the Independent Restaurant of the Year Award gives us the best start we could ask for in 2018 and we couldn’t have achieved this without the excellent team we have surrounding us”.
